Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a cervical MRI and this was the impression listed at the end: 1. Mildspondylosis to include disc bulging and dorsal annular fissuring causing no canal stenosis at C6-7. 2. Mild degree osseous foraminal narrowing without nerve root compression bilaterally at C3-4, right C4-5 and bilaterally at C5-6. What does this mean, and what sort of treatment / surgery can fix it?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. The MRI report indicates mild cervical spondylisis. It says there is only disc bulging and narrowing of space but there is no nerve root compression. Hence, presently the condition does not require surgery and can be effectively treated with drugs and supportive measures. It can be treated with administration of analgesics, muscle relaxants, physiotherapy, neck strengthening and relaxation exercises and wearing supportive cervical collar. Kindly consult Orthopedician for appropriate assistance in this regard. All the best.
