What Does This BP Level For Dizziness, tiredness And Headaches Indicate?

I normally have high blood pressure and have been taking meds for years, it s usually 184/92 (which is pretty average for me). Today at the dr., it was 80/60 and their 2nd attempt was 88/64. I have been very tired, dizzy, light headed and my ears feel like I have thousands of crickets in them and headaches. I thought it was vertigo. Is the low by causing vertigo symptoms or other way around?

Hi,

The sudden drop in blood pressure that you experienced, with readings of 80/60 and 88/64, may be responsible for your symptoms of dizziness, fatigue, and headaches. This is known as orthostatic hypotension, which occurs when there is a rapid drop in blood pressure upon standing up.

Your medications for the high blood pressure may have caused your blood pressure to drop too low, or it could be due to other factors such as dehydration or an underlying medical condition. It's important to discuss your symptoms with your doctor and undergo a proper evaluation to determine the cause and ensure appropriate treatment.

Regarding your question about vertigo, the drop in blood pressure and resulting symptoms of dizziness may be mistaken for vertigo. However, vertigo is typically characterized by a spinning sensation and can have various causes, such as inner ear problems or neurological conditions.

In any case, it's important to follow up with your doctor to determine the cause of your symptoms and ensure proper management. They may adjust your medication dosages or recommend lifestyle changes to help manage your blood pressure and prevent further episodes of orthostatic hypotension.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
