In Ultrasound it is reported that she has GB sludge/tiny calculi and mild bulky pancreas. Her amylase is 2500 and lipase 19000, wbc is 10000, S creatinine 0.6. Doctor (a general surgeon) is treating her wit IV fluid and also giving zomator 3. she is on complete fasting from last three days. Pain has lamost gone but she is still vomiting time to time. so what colud be the reason for vomiting. and I need to change the doctor or an general surgeon can treat her.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It sounds like your wife has pancreatitis secondary to gall stones. It is common enough. The condition itself causes the nausea and vomiting. Her doctor is following the protocol as far as treating the pancreatitis is concerned. It involves giving IV fluids and holding back food till the vomiting stops.

The next step would be to address the cause i.e. the Gall stones. She would probably need to undergo a cholecystectomy (surgery to remove the gall bladder). I don't think you need to change your doctor at this point as your wife is improving. Your doctor will likely discuss the steps going forward soon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
