What Does The Presence Of White And Red Blood Cells In Urine Indicate?

Hi, I am a 65 year old male. I have a slightly enlarged prostrate and raised psa (6). I have regular checkups. I have been fasting for 13 days (4.30am--7.30pm). I drink 8 glasses of water in the evening. My urine test results showed few white cells and occasional red blood cells. What does this indicate?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

You may be suffering from urinary tract infection(UTI).It is important to know exact number of WBC /HPF. Occasional RBC may be related to infection.
Up to 5 pus cells in urine are normal /HPF.
You need few more investigations like routine hemogram,Random blood sugar,Renal function test,Urine culture and sensitivity and Ultrasound of abdomen. Further investigations can be done if needed.

You may need proper antibiotics after culture and sensitivity report.

Hope I have answered your question.
Take Care
