What Does The Following Ultrasound Report Suggest?
Hi! I had an ultrasound test and result states that my bulky uterus size is 50mm(AP Diameter) with faint gestational sac size of 6.5mm. Myometrical echo is homogenous while other features aren’t visible yet. Please can u help explain this in a better way and how many weeks old my foetus is? Meanwhile, I had my last period between 12th & 15th May. Thank you
Bulky uterus is term used in all conditions in which the uterus is enlarged compared to its normal size. In pregnancy, the uterus becomes bulky to accomodate the growing fetus. Bulky uterus is concerned in several other pathological conditions such uterine fibroids or any other tissues attaching to the uterine wall.
Gestational sac is the cavity covering the fertilized egg which protects the developing egg for the initial weeks. The sac gets attached to the wall of uterus of the mother and forms the connection with mother's blood supply through the placenta. Pseudo sac with fluid collection should be ruled out, if there is any specific identification. Visit a gynecologist for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
