Would One Miscarry When Gestational Sac Is Smaller Than The Period Of Amenorrhea And Shows Poor Trophoblastic Reaction?

My uterus is gravid and shows gestational sac of 6 weeks in sonographic age, gestational sac is smaller than the period of amenorrhea and shows irregular margins, small fetel pole is seen with no cardiac activity, trophoblastic reaction is poor , no areas of retroimplant haemorrhage seen, should i misscarry or wait for another week?

Hello,

Incomplete data! It is suggestive of missed abortion.

By the gestation of 6 weeks, the gestational sac should be well defined and which should correspond to the period of gestation, a well-defined trophoblastic reaction, and fetal cardiac activity should be present.

Based on the findings of the given ultrasound report, you seem to have a missed abortion in which case, you will need a suction evacuation.

If you wish, you can repeat the ultrasound after a week but if the findings are same as before, then you need to abort the fetus. Do not wait more than a week or if you start bleeding, in which case, you need to undergo an abortion as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
