My dad had a chest xray done on the 31/7 before a back operation..the doctor did not explain the xray to me..There is bilateral hyperinflation with bronchovascular markings...There is cardiomegaly..CTR si 53%..There is perihilar lower lobe endobronchial wall thickening..This may suggest interstitial fluid. There is reticular nodular pattern..This could represent interlobular septal thickening and is consistent with an interstitial pattern. This could represent chronic cardiac failure. There is unfolding aorta. There is a prominent pulmonary outflow tract. There is background osteopenia ..Dexa scan is rcommended..Mild dorsal spondlolysis.. Impression...There is cardiomegaly with left cardiac decompensation..There is also interstitial lung pattern...HRCT chest can be considered......Please what do I need to do is this serious
all the changes mentioned are combination of heart failure and lung disease processes. to differentiate between the two, the patient needs to undergo HRCT of chest. osteopenia and unfolding of aorta as probably age related. DEXA scan is done to quantify osteopenia and to decide treatment plans.
