What Does The Following MRI Report Suggest?

MRI for cervical spinal stenosis showed right mastoid sinus disease. Have had severe head and neck pain for six months. Cervical 2-6 showed disc disease and 2-3 mm narrowing of canal. Now on antibiotic. Could pain be related to mastoid fluid in right air sacs rather than mild disc disease?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, yes most likely pain is due to mastoid disease and usually cervical spondylosis or disc prolapse or narrowing presents with radiating pain towards arm or nerve pain is like currents running through the course of the nerve.

So apparently mastoid disease will get better with antibiotics. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used. More potent analgesics like tramadol or gabapentin may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
