Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i had an mri and muy c5-6 is: disc diseccation possterior disc osteophyte bilateral uncovertebral hypertrophy milkd central canal stenosis ap diamter 1 cm moderate bilateral foraminal stenosis I m still waiting to see if i can get an appointment with a neurosurgeon, what do you think the outcome will be? I m only 47.
As the MRI suggest that there is degenerative disc disease this is common in most people. But we have to cor relate this with clinical signs and symptoms. If the signs and symptoms include pain, tingling numbness then a cervical collar will be advised. Post which physiotherapy will be recommended for therapeutic ultrasound therapy and TENS therapy to reduce inflammation and pain.
I don't think surgery will be recommended even for now. Because most cases will cervical disc issue or even the stenosis if never considered for surgery unless and until there is disabling pain or any major Neuropathic symptoms.
In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most cases have been better with Physiotherapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
