What Does The Following CT Scan Report Suggest?

My doctor sent me for CT scan. It showed my liver was mildly enlarged and moderate diffuse hepatic steatosis. Also shows 12mm hypodense lesion is present in the lateral aspect of the upper of left kidney. Inderterminate 1.6 cm on left adrenal nodule and inderterminate 1.3 on right adrenal nodule. Moderate atrophy of the pancreas is noted. A 3.6cm hypodense lesion on left ovary. Lab results show blood in both urine and stool. Can you tell me what is happening to me? Could I have cancer?

Hi,

It is difficult to come to a single confirmed diagnosis from the findings in your CT scan report.

The liver changes are benign and a common finding.

Adrenal nodules need to be followed up closely for some time to know if there is any progressive growth. In most cases, it will stay the same but it is important to follow up.

The kidney lesion is probably a cyst and if confirmed to be one then no treatment is needed.

The cyst in the ovary needs a follow-up and probably doing blood CA125 levels might help.

Atrophy of the pancreas is not a concern.

For blood in stools, you might need a colonoscopy investigation.

Blood in urine needs detailed testing.

In short, the conditions of the adrenals, ovary and the kidney can be independent or can be rarely associated with cancer.

Please discuss with your doctors.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Vivek Chail,
