What Does The MRI Of Brain With Chronic-appearing White Matter Changes Indicate?
I had a MRI of the brain and orbits. Findings: Brain: Mildly extensive chronic-appearing white matter changes noted predoninantly of the periventricular and subcortical white matter. This is presumably related to chronic microvascular change. What does this mean? I am a 68 yr. old female, weight 231, have diabetes and some heart arythmyia problems. Diagnosed with polymyalgia and fibromyalgia, also rheumatoid arthrities, hypertension. Please help me understand

The MRI report shows that due to aging, the blood flow through smaller channels in brain are reduced in the white matter. This is an expected development at your age, only some have it sooner due to diabetes and hypertension. Since you have both the conditions, it might have appeared earlier. There is no need to worry as long you are taking your medications on time.
