What Does Swelling In The Toes Indicate?

My two year old had her brothers car bed fall on her. She seemed fine at first then I noticed she was limping. When I looked at her foot her toe beside her big one is swollen and on top of the toe beside it. And if you touch on top of her foot behind that toe she will scream and cry.

Hello,

If there is any fracture of the toe bone usually swelling and pain is the common symptoms which appear. Better get an x-ray done to see bones of the foot. If there is no obvious injury detected, then it could be ligament injury also which needs little time to settle. Or it could be even hampered circulation to that toe also which will cause swelling. Do an oil massage to the limb preferably with hot oil and water warm compressors to make the swelling subside. Take painkillers if it's very painful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
