What Does Severe Pain In The Left Arm And Shoulder Indicate?

I am having severe pain in my left arm from the shoulder down to my elbow. I cant lift it even to wash my hair, hurts to pull it backwards or up. It feels like its STUCK and the pain isn t the worse in the shoulder its worse around bicep and tricep areas. ....I have been to the emergency room so NO HEART ATTACK...was told to see Ortho. Possibly torn rotator cuff? Torn tricep tendon? What is frozen shoulder?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more likely because your pain is associated with movements and specific positions. Frozen shoulder is commonly seen with diabetic and old aged patients. In this, the lubricant fluid (synovial fluid) in the shoulder joint becomes dry. So movements are painful and restricted. So you should first screen for diabetes. If diabetes is found then strict control of blood sugar is needed. Consult orthopedic doctor and get done clinical examination and MRI of shoulder joint. This will diagnose the cause. Physiotherapy, inarticulate injection, manual correction under General Anaesthesia etc are treatment options.
So consult orthopedic doctor and discuss all these.

Hope I have answered your query.
