What Does Redness Of Foreskin In Kids Mean?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...My four year old is not circumcised. It does not retract at all and the foreskin is reddish. Should I be concerned about tight foreskin at age four. He never has much of an erection , slightly in the morning but foreskin remains fully intact. Does the redness mean infection.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be an early sign of phimosis. Retract the foreskin gently and clean the area with soap and water. If there is pus or debris, topical antibiotics like mupirocin can be applied.

If the foreskin can not be pulled back, consult a pediatrician and plan for a circumcision.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
