I had a transabdominal and transvaginal views of the pelvis to better evaluate the uterus and adnexa.
Impression: No abnormal thickening of the endometrium. Heterogeneous echogenicity of the myometrium particularly within the fundus which may represent an intramural fibroid or focal adenomyosis. Slightly complex pelvic ascites. This is nonspecific but may be seen with a recent reptured ovarian cyst. Now I'm having a biopsy. Do you know what this means? Wondering the chances of cancer?
According to reports, uterus is heterogeneous in echotexture particularly in the fundus region which may be due to intramural fibroid or focal adenomyosis. Fibroid is benign tumour of the uterus whereas adenomyosis is a condition in which the inner lining of the uterus (endometrium) breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus (myometrium). Both are benign conditions.
Treatment of fibroid and adenomyosis are both conservative and surgical depending upon many things like age, family is completed or not, symptoms etc. You should consult your doctor. There are no chance of cancer with this finding. Hope i have answered your query.
