What Does Pain In The Left Arm Indicate?

My wife, 56 years old is having pain in her left arm. Started as wrist pain about six hours ago and has gradually moved up her arm to just above her elbow. She had breast cancer seven years ago and had the lymph nodes removed from that arm but has never had any lymph related problems. Any ideas?

Hello,

Up to 18% of post mastectomy with lymph node removal patients may present later with pain, tingling, weakness, stiffness and poor range of motion of upper limb.

Other possibilities like nerve root compression or arthritis or myalgia etc.Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Please get an x-ray cervical spine and nerve conduction study also rule out cardiac pain may be referred to left upper limb and present like this.

Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
