What Does Pain And Swelling In The Right Knee Indicate?

I have a painful right knee. The knee joint was replaced August 2016. I have what the MRI interpreter thinks is a Baker s cyst. The knee has been giving me pain for several months. It is now swollen about 3 inches more than the left one and the tissue on the right side of the knee is swollen and puffed up, quite firm to the touch. It does not hurt much to press on the swollen tissue, but it hurts to walk. Occasionally, the condition flairs up and prevents me from putting my full weight on the right leg. I m getting around on crutches when this happens. I think I need to have a surgeon open the knee up to find out what is going on. The x-rays of the right knee show a properly fitted prosthesis with no indications of loosening or infection. Samples of the synovial fluid show no infection. The right knee is not warm to the touch. I do not have a fever.
