What Does Ossified Foci On X-ray Report Suggest?

Hi,I fractured my ankle in three places on 17/07/2014. I have just been for a follow up xray and am wondering what "ossified foci" means and also what, "Bony irregularity noted at the anterior process of the calcaneum representing a fracture site with bridging callus formation", means. I have been non weight bearing and on crutches since the 17th.Kind regards,Veronica.

Welcome to Health care magic.

Ossified foci on the x-ray after a healed fracture - its due to the sclerosis and callus formation in the fracture location ( its bony growth with the proliferative process in the fracture ) Any fracture leaves a trace of previous in this way - with callus formation, bony irregularity ( these are expected features ).

The things you should be worried is - if there is an malalignment / malunion reported in your x-ray after healing / treatment.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
