What Does Numbness On The Big Toe Indicate?

half of my big toe has become numb - no other symptoms. No swelling, blood flow is good, no bruising, and it was not hit by anything. Shoes fit correctly, and it s just the inner portion of the toe only - all other toes have full feeling. Similar to your foot going to sleep , only specific to the inside of one toe.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Peripheral neuropathy seems most common cause here

For that Check diabetes by random blood sugar

Also rule out thyroid problem by serum TSH estimation

Liver, kidney problems also should be ruled out by sgpt, sgot, serum urea, creatinine.

Neurological examination also should be done and history regarding spinal problem also need to be taken

Hope this will help you..

Take care

Consult physician for examination
