What Does My Ultrasound Test Result For Breasts Indicate?

Hello I have just had a mammogram of my breasts, the report reads... there is asymmetry of the ductal tissue which is more prominent deep to the right nipple . I was then sent for an ultrasound and the report reads... there is a cyst 1-12oclock 3.1x1.4cm in diameter with internal septation. There are dilated ducts at 4oclock with several small cysts laterally Overall impression: there is asymmetry of the fibroglandular tissue on the mammogram more extensive on the right shown by ultrasound to perhaps be the result of breast cysts and focally dilated ducts, particularly at 4oclock. Several small simple cysts are also present. There is no solid lesion. There is no lymphadenopathy I won t get a chance to return to my GP for a while...what does this report mean and is there ANYTHING that I should be worried about with the above report results? Thank you in advance

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The ultrasound report along with mammogram say that there is no cancer in your breasts. There is also no solid tumors which would be suspicious. The only thing which has been found are cysts.
Cysts are the most common finding in the breasts. Cyst is benign lesion. Its kind of empty space filled with clear fluid.

There is no need to be worried at all. Once again, no suspicious tumors at your breasts. Also lymph nodes are not enlarged.

All you should do is to control the cysts. To do that, the ultrasound should be repeated in a year or so.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
