What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?

I just got lab work back and my ldl is 158 and my total cholesterol is 222 but my Hdl is 68. These numbers don t make sense to me. Why is my ldl so bad while my Hdl is so good? And I don t want to take a statin Does niacin alone lower cholesterol or only when taken along with a statin? I am only 45 years old. only about ten lbs overweight. I exercise faithfully at least three days a week. And I already eat low cholesterol diet?

Hello

Your findings may suggests altered lipid profile.
HDL level depend upon many factors like exercise etc.Raised HDL may be related to exercise in your case, you should continue it.
Niacin alone is usually not helpful,I suggest to take statins also after food at night.
You may also need routine hemogram, random blood sugar and liver function test.

Get well soon.
Take Care
