Hi,
Yes, as has been told to you this blunting is indication of fluid in
pleural cavity in small amount and X-ray is just suggestive of it.
Hence this can be confirmed by
Ultrasonography which can help to aspirate the sample of pleural fluid and send it for detailed lab test can shows us the cause. This will allow for guided management, supported by relevant tests of blood like CBC, ESR, sugar and so on.
I would advise all my such patients to go for
CT scan of the chest also as it will show all the internal structures, granulomas,
lymph nodes and can help to see whether there is
tuberculosis, cancer or anything else helping a for a proper diagnosis and specific management.
