What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

Hi, I went to the hospital today to do a blood test and the result was: SGPT 105.16 and SGOT 38.27, I just want to know if this is a mild liver problem because its slight above normal level. How can i reduce this in a normal medication, is there a herbal medicine or vitamins that i can take. Thank you and God Bless...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome to HCM.

I appreciate your concern for the raised SGPT level during routine checkup.
However, it is difficult to comment just by observing the raised SGPT.

I recommend you to kindly repeat other liver function tests like SGOT, GGT, Alkaline phosphatase, Bilirubin, and an ultrasound scan of the abdomen.

The raised SGPT may be caused by hepatitis, alcohol liver diseases, gall bladder disease, etc.

You must avoid taking alcohol (if you consume it), fatty vegetarian and non vegetarian meals, etc.
Take plenty of fruits and vegetables. Do regular exercise.

Multivitamins containing Vitamin E are found to be effective in reversing the liver injury. A herbal medicine like Liv 52 is claimed to be effective in such condition.

Hope to have answered your query.
