What Does My Below Culture Test Report Suggest?

Below is the culture test results of my kid. could you help me understand Culture and antibiotic susceptibility test SPECIMEN : URINE GRAM S STAIN : Occasional pus cells and occasional gram negative bacilli seen. ORGANISM ISOLATED : Klebsiella pneumoniae COLONY COUNT : 10,000/ml Antibiotic susceptibility test (Automated) : ANTIBIOTICS RESULT & MIC (mcg/ml) ANTIBIOTICS RESULT & MIC (mcg/ml) Ampicillin Resistant ( =32) Amikacin SENSITIVE ( Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid Resistant ( =32) Gentamicin SENSITIVE ( Cefalotin Resistant ( =64) Ciprofloxacin SENSITIVE ( Cefixime Resistant ( =4) Norfloxacin SENSITIVE ( Ceftriaxone Resistant ( =64) Ofloxacin SENSITIVE (1) Piperacillin/Tazobactam Resistant ( =128) Nitrofurantoin SENSITIVE (32) Ertapenem Resistant (4) Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole SENSITIVE ( =20)

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
After going through culture and sensitivity report, following things can be inferred.
Your kid is having 'pneumonia' caused by the organism 'Klebsiella pneumoniae'. The infection needs to be treated by administration of a course of antibiotics.
The organism is sensitive to the following drugs, which when given would help to recover from this illness: Amikacin, Gentamycin, Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Ofloxacin, Nitrofurantoin, Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole.
The other drugs are resistant, and if administered would be useless to overcome the infection.
