What Does My TSH Level Indicate?

I went to minor emergency because I have been having neck pain for a few months that has not improved. The pain is mainly in front of neck and on left slde around to the back of my neck. I have had a soft tissue x ray and a ct scan. Results were extremely swollen thiroid encasing my esophagus and trachea 360degrees. My tsh level is 74. I have been referred to a endocrine dr. They can t see me til next week. I feel horrible and the pain in my neck seems lik it is getting worse. Could you please give me some advice about how serious this is.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have an underactive thyroid function, which is a disorder of the endocrine system in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone.

It can cause a number of symptoms, such as poor ability to tolerate cold, a feeling of tiredness, constipation, depression, and weight gain. Consult with Endocrinologists as soon as possible. Meantime avoid fast food and fats.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
