I have a history a renal cancer in which I had a radical nephrectomy I am now 2 years post surgery. I have just had a follow up CT scan which shows minimal free fluid in the abdomen. is this anything to worry about. I also had a gastric sleeve in November 2011 and have lost 36 kgs

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Free fluid refers to the build up of water or other fluids in the abdomen or pelvis.

Your result stated that there was minimal free fluid present which means that a very small amount was seen.

This is fine, if they had indicated that a large amount was present then there would be a problem.

You may want to discuss your concerns with your doctor.

I hope this helps
