General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical examination by your Doctor [gynecologist] to confirm it.

2)Discuss with your treating doctor about [Estrogen]therapy in low dose and vaginal Estrogen cream for vaginal atrophy.

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Dress in layers, have a cold glass of water or go somewhere cooler. Try to avoid hot beverages, caffeine, spicy foods, alcohol, stress, hot weather and even a warm room.

2)Decrease vaginal discomfort. Use over-the-counter, water-based vaginal lubricants (Astroglide, K-Y jelly, ) or moisturizers (Replens). Choose products that don't contain glycerin, which can cause burning or irritation in women who are sensitive to that chemical.

3)Get enough sleep. Avoid caffeine, which can make it hard to get to sleep, and avoid drinking too much alcohol, which can interrupt sleep. Exercise during the day, although not right before bedtime. If hot flashes disturb your sleep, you may need to find a way to manage them before you can get adequate rest.

4)Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing, paced breathing, guided imagery, massage and progressive muscle relaxation etc

5)Try to strengthen your pelvic floor by doing pelvic floor muscle exercises like Kegel exercise.

6)Try to eat a balanced diet. Include a variety of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Limit saturated fats, oils and sugars. Ask your doctor if you need calcium or vitamin D supplements to help meet daily requirements.

7)Try to avoid smoking

Hope that helps
