Hi, i resently got my blood work done and it hows a slight increase in SGPT level =60.8. wat does it mean?I dont consume alcohol or smoke , or take any type of medication. my appetite is regular and I am not suffering from any diseases.. Although I am a lilttle heavy.. height is 5.4 ft and weight is 84 kilos.Plz advise..?
Increased SGPT may indicate liver injury. It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, alcohol intake, auto immune causes etc.
You may need few more investigations like routine hemogram, viral markers,ANA assessment, ultrasound of abdomen. I suggest tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily for three months to my patients. It helps in regeneration of liver cells.
I suggest follow up test after two month. It is good that you don't take alcohol and cigarettes. It is important to exclude autoimmune causes in your case.
