What Does Fluid In The Left Side Of The Chest Indicate?

I have what seems like fluid on the left side of my chest, outside the ribs, and does not feel like normal muscle inflammation. It is also sore in this area. I did nothing out of the ordinary to bring this on. It has been like this for about three weeks now and fluctuates in severity. Male 45

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, usually soft tissue swelling or lipomas may feel like this but ultrasound of the swelling is a must and if needed biopsy may also be required to see nature of swelling. You can use anti inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen if it pains locally. Can be soft tissue Inflammation like cellulitis as well which may require antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
