What Does Discoloration On The Lower Back Indicate?

my boyfriend who is 49yrs old, about 5 11 and approx 220pds. We have been dating for goin on 3 years, since then on his lower back mostly around the kidney area is has alot of discoloration, sometimes its worse than what it is, but has never gone completely away,or even gotten better. He says it doesnt hurt or itch or anything, and thinks its from when he used to go ice fishing, when he would be sitting hunched over his jacket would hike up causing his skin to be exposed to the cold. He said sometimes his back would get so cold it would hurt, but that was years ago. Well lately he s been stating that his lower back was hurting, it comes and goes and we can pin point exactly what does or doesnt trigger it to start hurting. his job doesnt require any strenuous labor but he is standing on his feet on croncrete for 9 hours a day. He has tried different footwear and nothing seems to help.. Whats got me concered is how bad its gotten over the last two days, to the point he doesnt want to get out of bed because it hurts and hes too damn stubborn to go to the doctor, not unless hes dying or dead he said. So any information to point me in the right direction to what it possible could be so I can research it would be helpful.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
I have gone through your query keenly.I feel his back pain may not be related to the discoloration.Possible causes of his back pain may include osteroarthritis, disc herniation, sciatica...I will suggest he sees the Doctor for examination and a scan.In the meantime, pain drugs like aceclofenac and myorelaxant like miorel may help him feel better. From the results and findings by the Doctor, other treatment options may be considered.Treatment options include: different lines of pain drug depending on pain intensity, myorelaxants, steroid shots occasionally, physiotherapy, surgery.Just see the Doctor or if possible, a Rheumatologist for evaluation.
Hope this will help
Best regards
