What Does Burning And Tingling Sensation In The Forearm Indicate?

Hi, I have had a weird sensation on some parts of my skin just on my right arm and the back of my right shoulder. This started on Tuesday on the skin of my right tricep, the outside of my right armpit and the back of my shoulder/ top of my latts. I woke up today and it is now affecting the underneath of my forearm?? The feeling is that it is burnt/ tingly or chapped however there is simply no visual disformaties on the area that is affecting me. It is sore to touch and whenever I move my arm my clothes irritate it. Do you have any suggestions as to what this might be and whether or not I should seek further medical advise. Many thanks Gaz

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have not mentioned anything about your past illness. Burning and tingling sensation is commonly caused by pressure on a nerve in the arm. Other causes may be trauma, injury, exposure to extreme weather conditions, anxiety, etc. Such symptoms may be indicative of developing neurological disorder, peripheral neuropathy, stroke, developing CAD, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get NCV tests, imaging tests done to estimate the degree of nerve damage, so that treatment can be started at the earliest.

You may be referred to a cardiologist, get all cardiac function tests done to study the heart fitness, you will be treated accordingly. In the meantime, take food rich in vitamin B6, B12 and Vitamin E or supplements to help repair any nerve damage. Avoid addictions if any, stay active. Take adequate rest. Get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
