What Does An Inflamed Patch Around The Right Temple Indicate?
I have an inflamed raised patch around my right temple. Doctor thinks it is shingles but could be Temporal arteritis. How can I tell the difference? The area in question has moved. It started by my eye/temple area and now has moved upward. For now she wants to treat it as shingles. I have tenderness and headache but no pain.
Hello, The only way to diagnose temporal arteritis is with a temporal artery biopsy. Both temporal arteritis and shingles in the region of the eye can cause severe problems with vision and even blindness so you need to see an ophthalmologist and get an exact diagnosis as soon as possible. Do not delay get an appointment with an M.D. ophthalmologist immediately. Regards
