What Does A Painful Lump At The Vaginal Opening Indicate?

I recently noticed a knot at the vaginal opening and it is painful with intercourse. today with a mirror, I checked myself and there is a black spot at the vaginal opening. I do have an appointment with my Gynecologist next week but this has me alarmed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Painful lump could be due to hair follicle infection, infected sebaceous gland, cyst like bartholin's cyst, vesicle. Clinical examination is must for diagnosis. I would suggest to consult gynecologist and undergo examination to confirm cause.

Meanwhile take following advises:

- Apply Bacitracin ointment. Take tablet Iboprufen
- Take frequent warm bath
- Apply warm pad application
- Wear pure cotton loose inner and maintain proper pelvic hygiene
- Keep area clean and dry ad avoid sweats

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
