What Does A Faint Line In A Pregnancy Test Indicate?

hi i ave sex on january the 18 on i got a 3day period on the 24 of january..i ave sex on the 2 of february also on the 5-6 of february on i take a pregnancy test on the 11february with first morning urineit was faint i could hardly see it... when did i get pregnant?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concenr.
You had your period on the 24th of January.
Was that a normal period ?
You have just mentioned a 3 day period, is that normal length of your cycles ?
If you had a period on 24th of January, and you took a test on the 11th of February, you took a test too early.
However a faint line could mean one of the following things -
1. A very early normal intra uterine pregnancy, assuming you conceived from either 2nd of February or 5-6th of February, however then it is way TOO soon to detect a pregnancy on the 11th test
2. A pregnancy PRIOR to the period you had on the 24th of January. That would explain the positive result.
3. An ectopic pregnancy
4. A miscarriage.
5. You interpreted the test incorrectly.

To differentiate between these possibilities, you need to have a pelvic transvaginal ultrasound scan at the earliest.
