What Does A Black Line On The Bottom Lip Indicate?
Hello , I am a Caribbean Canadian female I have a black line on my bottom lip that I have always wondered about . My mother says it could have been when I smoke cannabis years ago but I have read that being anemic can also be a huge factor. Do you have any suggestions or answers?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of black line on the bottom lip which could be because of hyperpigmentation, side effects of any medication, anemia, smoke, because of melanin deposition and allergic reaction to certain cosmetic products. It could be due to chapping and drying of lips.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you not to lick or pick your lips. Apply natural lip balm on lips to prevent from drying and you can use tea tree oil as well to prevent discoloration. Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight. If your symptoms keeps on persisting visit dermatologist once and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
