What Does MRI Report Mean?

Had a MRI done to rule out MS...it came back negative but the results did state that I have mild paranasal sinus disease and patchy opacification of the right mastoid air cells. And it says question any symptoms referrable to, the mastoid region...what does all of this mean.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Paranasal sinus disease is usually due to infection in the nose and mastoid opacification can be due to middle ear infection. Both are treatable with medications. You may need an ear examination to confirm ear infection and further treatment. If confirmed, you may need to take precautions like not allowing entry of water into the affected ear.
