What Do Sudden Gagging Noise, Cold Sweat And Weaving Arm In An Elderly Person Suggest?

My 84 year old father has twice experienced the following. When going to bed, he takes a gagging noise, develops a cold sweat, arm waving. This lasts only a few seconds. He does not remember this happening. And he is sick to his stomach afterwards.
What is happening to him?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. It can be due to a hypoglycemic episode. You should check his Blood sugar and Blood pressure at that time. GRBS by portable glucometer is also good to identify hypoglycemia. If it is that, then giving glucose or sugar candy at that time will be helpful. Is he diabetic and on insulin therapy? A general physical examination by a physician or geriatrician is well appreciated. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
