Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Persistent Dizziness And Confusion In A Child Indicate?
My son has had dizziness and confusion now for 7 months. He has seen his general practitioner, had an MRI, seen 2 neurologists, and an allergist. They have prescribed different medications, but nothing that has helped him. No diagnosis. He seems to be getting worse. Can you give us any advice to help him?
Since you have already got the other investigations & tests done but still complain of worsening of dizziness & confusion in your son;please make sure whether he is able to hear properly or not. Restrict him from getting into swimming pools. Get an Audiometry test done, sometimes children may get confused if they are unable to hear properly. Help him stay out of stress & anxiety.
Eardrum problem may cause dizziness & trigger confusion because the body's balance system is located in the inner earvestibular system. Get him checked physically & evaluated by an ENT. At times embedded wax in the ear may also cause dizziness. Treatment will depend upon the cause detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
