What Do Abdominal Cramps And Vomiting After Stopping Birth Control Pills Indicate?

I was told I had PCOS when I was about 15, no ultrasound or anything was done it was determined with how sporadic my periods were. I was put on birth control and metforma n to treat it and was on those for years, I was also overweight. In the past year I ve lost roughly 45-50 pounds and lost my insurance there for I haven t been on the meds for s long while. When I was on the BC if I ever missed pills I wouldn t have a period but since I lost the weight I ve had a period pretty consistently but I m currently late for my period and my lower abdomen feels firm between my pubic bones. I ve thrown up three times, for no known reason and then not long after I d feel better. All of this following a really bad pain I had in my lower abdomen back in April, which I think was my last period but it was a irregular period.

Hi,

Stopping any form of hormonal birth control removes external sources of progesterone or progesterone and estrogen. This changes the levels of these hormones in the body which can cause temporary side effects. Withdrawal from the contraceptive pill is often reported to be accompanied by heavier and longer periods. Some women also experience a change in the interval between periods. This can include menstruation becoming more unpredictable, as the body adjusts to no longer having an externally controlled hormone cycle.

Discontinuing hormonal birth pill can cause side effects like cramping during ovulation, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), changes in mood, dramatic weight changes, acne, unwanted hair growth, headaches, tender breasts, changes in sex drive, abdominal pain, back pain, nausea, vomiting etc. Side effects of stopping birth control pills disappear over time. If any adverse effects don't seem to be resolving, consult a doctor. It is especially important to consult s doctor if periods don't return within 6 months of stopping hormonal birth control pills.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
