Hello,
Most common cause in which a child involuntarily jerks his limbs during sleep is called benign sleep myoclonus. This is a normal phenomenon . However, the tensing of one arm , with involvement of the mouth and keeping the eyes open suddenly during sleep could be a focal convulsion. I would advise a visit to your doctor for a neurological examination. Also, monitor for any recurrence
