What Could Pneumonia Vs Ptb In The Below X-ray Report Suggest?

gud day my husband got his x-ray last week and the finding is pnuemonia vs ptb,left upper lobe.the doctor said that he take co amoxiclav antibiotic for 1 week 3x a day.is that antibiotic can kill that bacteria in one week?and what is pneumonia vs ptb means?

Hello

Your husband's findings suggests infection in left upper lobe.
It may be due to many reasons like pneumonia,tuberculosis etc.
In such findings,your husband is rightly suggested for broad spectrum antibiotics.If it is bacterial infection then findings and symptoms are expected to improve.He may need follow up X-ray.

But,if it is tuberculosis then symptoms and findings are not expected to improve.Then he may need further tests and proper anti-tubercular therapy.
It is too early to comment on nature of infection.
