What Could Extremely Elevated Heart Rate Indicate?
my son has a very high heart rate (sometimes ) over 120 that comes and goes.
the emergency hopital put him on holter monitor but resuts are not there.
my doctor thinks it might be SVT.
how dangerous is it and what can we do in the meanwhile to be causios.

Supraventricular tachycardia is a cardiac arrhythmia arising from improper electrical activity of the heart. It is characterized by high heart rate 150-250 per minute,Pounding heart,Shortness of breath,etc. Episodes can last from a few minutes to one or two days
Most SVTs are unpleasant rather than life-threatening to ones with normal heart condition. Episodes require treatment when they occur, but interval therapy may also be used to prevent or reduce recurrence.
Treatment is done by Physical maneuvers & medications such as Adenosine,diltiazem, verapamil or metoprolol.
