Hi.

Thanks for the query.

As per your query and the medical history of taking Thyroxine and Statins the symptoms of dry throat and changed taste sensation is due to the side effect of the medications as they both cause dry mouth and when two medications with similar side effects are taken there is increase in the severity of symptoms and also because the dose of thyroxine is increased the dryness will further exaggerate.
You should consult your treating physician and if possible he can reduce the dose of the medications but you should reduce or stop the medication without consulting the doctor. As of now you can take saliva stimulants like lemon drops, tart candies or sugar free chewing gums as they will stimulate saliva flow and ease the dryness. Saliva substitutes like "Artificial Saliva" containing methyl cellulose can be instilled in mouth for lubrication. Drink plenty of water. Limit the use of mouthwash as it also has a drying effect in mouth and subsequently will effect the throat.

Hope this helps
