What Could Cause Uncontrolled Bladder After Knee Replacement Surgery?

after having knee replacement surgery, I was unable to talk sensibly; was goofy for the three days after and completely unable to control my bladder. I felt as if I may have to go and there it was; no stopping. I lay in urine and urinated on the floor and bed. It was disgusting....Am 67, weigh 240 but have no major diseases as heart, diabetes, etc.

Urologist 's  Response
Hi,

For males it is borderline prostatic obstruction which causes this temporary problem after immobilization for any major surgery. Start alpha blockers and if in retention need to catheterize for a week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Devendra Choudhary
