What Could Cause Pain After Having Thoracentesis A Month Back?
I had a thoracentesis a little over a mt. ago and still having pain. Had a follow up cxr and showed more fluid (2 weeks ago), he went to do another thoracentesis last Tues and the ultrasound showed no fluid. Dr. said, where did the fluid go? What else can this pain be from?

You had thoracocentesis twice and no fluid but the pain persists,
The cause is very obvious:
- The pain arises from the Pleurasy, that is inflammation of the pleura due to now can be in contact with each other being rubbed every time to breath in and out.
- Another reason can be trauma to the subcostal nerve by the needle of paracentesis.
I would advise you to go for a CT scan of the whole chest to find out the obvious cause and get a proper treatment.
