What Could Be The Cause Of Bleeding?

When my husband woke up this am there was quite a bit of blood on his pillow enough to soak thru to the mattress. We could find no sores, nothing. And no taste of blood in his mouth. It was bright red and had clots in it. He had no stains on face or ears and no open sores on the face or throat.. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Blood without any symptoms & without any signs may be due to .
1 Abnormality in bleeding and clotting time ,so please get in blood for clotting and bleeding time.
2 Thrombocytopenic purpura may be the another most common cause of such bleeding ,so get in blood examination for platelets count.
3 Hematemasis or hemoptysis may be the another reason of such bleeding . So get in X RAY chest and ultrasound of liver .
However it is very difficult to estimate any disease mere on these symptoms , so in my opinion consult a primary care physician and get his opinion as physical examination is important.
Good luck.
