What could be cause of recurring swelling on both the sides of the jaw ?
Hello. The past 2 mornings I have woken up with some major swelling on both sides of my jaw. It doesn t hurt, can open my mouth fine, no numbness on either side. It usually goes away in a couple hours but its still pretty scary. Any ideas why this could be? Thank You.
Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum,
This can be either due to bilateral obstruction of the parotid duct or Temporomandibular joint problem. Please do consult your ENT specialist to rule out any other condition.

Hello, I have had swelling on the right side of my jaw line that shows up over night and last for 2-3 days then goes away. This has happened approximately once every 2 months for the past 2.5 years. My primary care Dr. doesn t think its lymph related though a lymph under my chin does get enlarged when my jaw swells. I ve seen an ENT dr. and he doesn t believe it to be salivary stones as I thought it could have been. The Dentest and Oral Surgeon don t think its tooth related after examining X-rays. Any suggestions or thoughts?

He went to the Dr today and the are scheduling him an ultrasound and chest X-ray for subraclavicular fossa enlargement. Could this be from something that he could of caught from our trip?!? Thanks!

I have what appears to be slight swelling in the left parotid and throat area with occassional pain during swallowing. The pain is like a needle stabbing me then it s gone. The first couple of times it happened it caused a spasm across the throat and it s only happened once on the right side. I have hasimotos disease. Had ablation 7 years ago. Endocrinologist suggested ENT for scope. What could this be? Just want to be informed for doctor appts. so I can give them the best information possible to diagnosis this quickly. I do have what seems to be excessive (at least to me ) ear fluid and in morning a lot of sinus congestion followed by drainage. but this swelling and pain during swallowing has been there for 4 months now. Thank you
