What Causes White Patches On Lip?

I just notice that on bottom lip left corner, the pigment has faded, it looks like there is a white patch there. I don t know if this is an irritation or the start of something else. I ve only worn lipstick twice in my life, and it was in the last two months, so I don t think it s this. Could it be due to a lack of vitamins? I am not unhealthy, but I could be eating more veg.

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I will keep a possibility of either Lip Vitiligo/Mucosal vitiligo Or it could also be chemical Leucoderma to lipstick.
If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to avoid lipsticks.
Treatment for both vitiligo as well as chemical leucoderma is essentially the same.
Topical you may use an immunomodulator e.g tacrolimus ointment, twice daily during day time.
For night application, I usually ask my patients to use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g Mometasone furoate.
Topical immunomodulators as well as topical steroids are prescription drugs. I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your vicinity for a confirmatory diagnosis and appropriate treatment
