What Causes Weight Gain And Muscle Pain During Perimenopause?

I was told that I am premenopausal. I am depressed, have had weight gain, low sex drive, all over muscle pain, tired and I am wondering if there is anything I can do to combat these symptoms. I was on a birth control pill but it gave me headaches and lowered my sex drive even more, so I would prefer to not take that anymore. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Meredith

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Sometimes in perimenopausal period following symptoms are felt Hot flashes. Breast tenderness. Worse premenstrual syndrome. Lower sex drive. Fatigue.
Irregular periods. Vaginal dryness; discomfort during sex. Urine leakage when coughing or sneezing. Plus there could be some more. These symptoms may last from a few months to years. Hormone replacement is usually a major therapy considered. Taking Flavonoids is also found to be beneficial.
Please also get a thyroid assay done to see if TSH level is normal, because weight gain can also be due to undetected hypothyroidism Thanks.
