What Causes Weight Gain And Abdominal Bloating While On Lamictal And Xanax?
I have been taking lamictal for a while now and have gained almost 15 pounds. This is with strict dieting and exercising. I always feel bloated. For a few hours after taking the pill, I drowl and my mouth hangs open. I also have to take Xanax to sleep I take an MAO inhibitor what can I tak instead of lamictal.u

Lamictal is less like to cause weight as its side effects. However, Xanax and MAO inhibitors are known to cause weight as their common side effect. You can ask your doctor for the alternate effective but safer medications for depression and insomnia. Unlike most mood stabilizers, though, Lamictal is less likely to cause weight gain.
